How Ridgeline handles planned and unplanned outages

We design our mining operations to be resilient, but in rare cases – such as power outages, infrastructure issues, or other unforeseen events – mining activity may be temporarily paused. Here’s what happens to your contract if that occurs.

If mining goes down, your contract is paused (not lost), no rewards are generated during that time, and the missed time is added back so you receive the full amount of active mining you paid for.

Planned vs. Unplanned Downtime

Downtime can fall into two categories. In either case, Ridgeline manages downtime in a way that protects your contract value.

  • Planned downtime: Scheduled mass-maintenance or upgrades

  • Unplanned downtime: Events outside of our control, such as power outages or other “acts of God”

These categories can include both infrastructure-related issues (e.g., power or facility interruptions) and hardware-related issues (e.g., miner maintenance or replacement). In all cases, downtime is handled consistently at the contract level.

Planned downtime that impacts contracts is expected to be rare. Routine maintenance, repairs, and hardware upgrades are handled at the operational level and are built into how our facilities are managed – meaning individual miner swaps or servicing do not typically result in contract pauses. This is a key advantage of renting hashrate rather than relying on a specific machine. Only larger-scale or facility-wide planned maintenance events would result in a temporary contract suspension.

What happens to my contract during an outage?

If mining must be paused:

  • Your contract is temporarily suspended, not canceled

  • No mining time is lost during the suspension

  • Mining resumes once operations are restored

Contracts may be paused individually, by group, or across the platform depending on the scope of the issue.

How you’ll be notified

Transparency is a priority – we don’t pause contracts silently. You will always be kept in the loop. You’ll receive a notification if your contract is suspended - the notification will include the reason and context for the pause. Depending on the length of the suspension, we will provide updates along the way (solutioning, timelines, etc.). Likewise, you will receive a follow-up notification when your contract is reinstated.

What happens when service is restored?

Once mining operations resume, you don’t need to take any action – everything is handled for you:

  • Your contract is automatically reinstated

  • Any paused time is added back to your contract

  • Your new contract end date is reflected in your dashboard

  • Payouts resume automatically based on your payout settings

Will I lose payouts or mining rewards?

No – rewards do not accrue during downtime because mining activity is paused.

During a suspension:

  • Mining is paused

  • No rewards are generated or accrued during this period

  • No contract time is lost

Instead of generating reduced or zero payouts during downtime, the contract duration is extended so you receive the full amount of active mining time associated with your contract.

Summary

  • Contracts are paused, not terminated, during outages

  • Users are notified at suspension and reinstatement

  • Lost time is added back to your contract

  • No rewards accrue during downtime, but no contract time is lost

  • Downtime may result from infrastructure, power, or hardware-related events, and is handled consistently across all scenarios

  • Routine maintenance and miner replacements do not typically impact contracts; only larger-scale events result in pauses

  • Your dashboard updates automatically

  • Payouts resume once mining restarts
